GOSPEL MEETS FLAMENCO is the result of a decade of experimentation and discovery led by Ramon Escalé and Paula Domínguez, where they take a decisive step forward with this fusion, capturing an ambitious show, with the collaboration of the most prominent emerging figures of flamenco in Catalonia, and also with consolidated names in the local Afro-American music scene.
The result is a group made up of great musicians who contribute with all their backgrounds, including Anna Colom (Barcelona), Carmen Cortés (Mallorca), David Domínguez (Barcelona), Ismael Alcina (Cádiz), Marc López (Barcelona), Paula Domínguez ( Barcelona) and Ramon Escalé (Barcelona).
The Gospel Meets Flamenco repertoire takes as its starting point the ancient spirituals that have reached the present day, becoming authentic standards. Themes like Amazin Grace, Wade in the Water or Motherless Child among others are transformed naturally after passing the sieve of the compás, the sonority and the flamenco harmony.
